What is HDTV?
The new HDTV science is stunning, and has vastly improved the visual aspect of our favorite TV shows and movies. But, there is still one small issue: much of the stuff that’s on TV is still horrible! When the shows are bad, it hardly counts whether you are seeing them through your high def or general TV and perhaps you ought to think about DVRs, if you have reached this state of frustration.
The DVR is known by various names: digital video recorder, personal video recorder of PVR and performs the same use as the familiar VCR, which is to record whatever from TV broadcasts. The DVR however is not just another VCR as it is able to give you much more in terms of making Television watching a smarter experience, where you do not have to sit through nonsense. Since it is recording whatever is happening on Television, you can always take a personal break whenever you want to and come back to it at leisure.
Traditional models have been around since about 1999, but recently they have had to be changed to handle high definition content. The technical storage is impressive, the HD-DVR is run by a hard disk drive, which holds more than your desktop PC and can store 35 hours of high def content or 300 hours of general material. The newer models are loaded with other features too, for instance, the TiVo Series 3 not only upgrades general def content for quality improvement, it can also record two channels at the same time, while the viewer might be busy watching the third channel.
The easiest way to get an HD-DVR is by hiring one from your cable company, for about six to ten dollars a month although most people who do this complain about the small amount of storage (8-10 hours of HD content) and the user-unfriendliness of the typical hardware they get. The only way out of this is to get one TiVo Series 3 HD-DVR available at about 0 but is worth every penny in terms of transmission quality, memory capacity and user-friendliness.
There are many advantages of using such recording devices. You could program it to record any Show of special interest to you, even if you are unconscious of its being - for example program the TiVo to record all movies starring John Wayne screening in any channel anytime. You are relieved of scanning through the channels for endless hours and naturally you can watch TV without the ridiculous commercials, which saves so much of your time.
The impact is so great that nearly seventy percent of television advertisers confirmed in a recent study that with DVR encroachment in the market, the 30 second spots would become defunct. And about a quarter of promoters said they would respond by reducing the amount of money spent on Television ads and focusing their energy elsewhere. At last with the connection of your HDTV with a Blu-Ray DVD and a HD-DVR, the days of annoying Television commercials disturbing your Television viewing pleasure are finally over.
